Ditemukan Anak Zaman Es di Alaska

Ilmuwan berhasil menemukan pemukiman Zaman Es di Alaska tengah. Di pemukiman itu, ilmuwan menemukan sisa-sisa kremasi anak bersuia tiga tahun.
Sisa-sisa itu ditemukan dalam tempat yang dulunya menjadi perapian di sepanjang Sungai Tanana. Peneliti University of Alaska Fairbanks mengatakan berharap dapat mengekstrak DNA kuno dari sisa-sisa itu.
Salah satu ilmuwan dalam tim mengatakan, pemeriksaan pada gigi menunjukkan ciri-ciri orang Amerika Utara dan Asia timur laut. Menurut Anchorage Daily News, penemuan itu pertama dilaporkan dalam edisi 25 Februari jurnal Science.
Temuan itu merupakan sisa-sisa kremasi tertua yang pernah ditemukan di Amerika Utara. Sisa kremasi itu berasal dari anak muda yang meninggal 11.500 tahun silam. Situs itu dulunya merupakan desa kecil. Desa itu tampaknya telah ditinggalkan saat anak itu meninggal.
Menurut Daily News, warga Alaska asli di daerah itu dijuluki ‘Xaasaa Cheege Ts'eniin’ yang berarti ‘Anak Mulut Sungai Upper Sun’. [mor]
